Dolphin is 42 years old!
Ever since the 1st NAVIGA C World Championship, held in Jablonec in 1981, the dolphin has become its symbol. And not just any... Our Jablonec Dolphin is shown jumping out of the water, holding an anchor and mainly its body symbolizes the letter C, the name of the categories of non-floating model boats in the rules of the WORLD ORGANIZATION FOR SHIP MODELLING NAVIGA .
During the very first championship, this emblem with the Dolphin was liked, so it got on the sticker and also on the front page of the Modeler magazine. This World Championship was something unique, there were queues for tickets and maybe that's why it has been held regularly around the world ever since. But the FIRST one was in Jablonec nad Nisou!
In 1993, the Jablonec Dolphin resurfaced on the occasion of the 7th NAVIGA C World Championship. In the meantime, somewhere in the depths of the sea, he found a new anchor, which corresponds to today's NAVIGA emblem. The championship was again a success, the interest was great and the ADMIRAL club celebrated 25 years of its rich history with dignity.
After fifteen long years, he resurfaced during the 14th NAVIGA C World Championship, held in 2008. In the same year, the ADMIRAL club celebrated 40 years of its history. In the meantime many things have happened, for example, the old Jablonec exhibition center, which had seen the previous two championships, was demolished and a brand new Eurocentre building was built in its place. The new premises also required a facelift of the competition logo. That's when I met the Jablonec Dolphin, and we became great friends. The colors came in, and so did the new, computerized graphics.
Time has passed quickly, another fifteen years have passed and we are in the present. The year is 2023, the club is celebrating a respectable fifty-five years and the Dolphin? Ready as ever! He's saved the NAVIGA anchor for a festive occasion and you'll definitely see it again. All you have to do comes to Jablonec nad Nisou at the end of September when the 21st NAVIGA C World Championships will be held.
Well, when I look at the numbers above, 1981, 1993, 2008, and 2023, it's an impressive history. And since 1993, this top event has been held in Jablonec every 15 years. So another one in 2038? Then you better come THIS YEAR!!!
